Rajiv Pratap Rudy, the victor in the Constitution Club election, celebrated his win after a hard-fought contest against Sanjeev Balyan, a fellow BJP MP. The election saw participation from numerous prominent leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi. Rudy stated that his victory, achieved by a margin of over 100 votes, was a triumph for all the MPs and those who voted, and for the team’s consistent work over the last two decades. The election saw heavy participation, with key figures from different political parties casting their votes. Rudy, the incumbent and a five-time Lok Sabha MP, faced a significant challenge from Balyan. The competition was primarily seen as a battle between two BJP members. The election drew over 680 valid votes out of 1,295 eligible voters, setting a record for the club’s elections. Supporting Rudy were many central ministers, including Amit Shah and Piyush Goyal. Rudy had maintained a strong position, but Balyan, backed by some BJP figures, posed a significant challenge. Rudy’s campaign was seen as having broad support from opposition members, while within the BJP there was division. Rudy, known for his composed leadership and connections within the social circles, was up against Balyan. Balyan, known for his rural background and direct approach, was also respected by many within and outside the BJP. Rudy, with his existing connections with the members, played a key role in his victory. The Lok Sabha Speaker is the ex-officio President of the Club, while the Secretary plays a crucial role in the executive functioning of the club.
