Nepal’s cricket team is currently training extensively in India, preparing for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The team is receiving support from the BCCI, which has permitted them to train at its Centre of Excellence. This initiative aims to aid Nepal in their quest to qualify for the prestigious ICC tournament.
The BCCI has been actively involved in Nepal’s preparations. A recent video shared by the BCCI on X showcased the Nepal team’s intensive training regime. The two-week camp at the BCCI Centre of Excellence included a focus on improving skills, fitness, and practicing match scenarios. The T20 World Cup Qualifiers will be a crucial step for Nepal as they aim to secure a spot in the main tournament.
This isn’t the first time the BCCI has assisted Nepal. Prior to the 2024 T20 World Cup, the BCCI facilitated practice sessions and arranged matches for Nepal’s team against domestic teams in India. Dr. S. Jaishankar, India’s External Affairs Minister, has also expressed support for Nepal’s cricket development, with the central government backing practice matches between Nepal and Indian Under-19 teams. Furthermore, Nepal’s women’s team also benefited from training in India, preparing for the Asia Cup qualifiers, where they reached the final stage.
