In a devastating incident in Bilaspur, a five-month pregnant woman lost her life in a road accident involving an official vehicle. The woman’s husband and two children were also injured in the crash. Following the accident, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene. The local community, however, managed to locate the vehicle and handed it over to the police, urging them to take appropriate action. The accident took place on August 9th, Raksha Bandhan, near Turkadhi, under the jurisdiction of the Koni police station. Sumit Suryavanshi, along with his wife Hemlata, daughter Minti (7 years old), and son Rishu (10 years old), was traveling to Semartal from his wife’s maternal home to celebrate Raksha Bandhan. Hemlata was on her way to tie rakhis to her brothers when the accident occurred. A government vehicle, traveling at high speed, collided with their motorcycle from behind. The impact was so severe that Hemlata died at the scene. Her husband, Sumit, and their two children sustained serious injuries. The vehicle involved is believed to be the official vehicle of SDM Richa Chandrakar from Pendra Road. The villagers found the vehicle after the accident and subsequently brought it to the police station. The police have filed an FIR and are investigating the matter. The driver has been identified, and the police have promised strict action. Rishu is still receiving treatment at SIMS, while his sister has been discharged. Their father’s treatment is also continuing. The family and local residents are expressing outrage and demanding stringent action against the individuals responsible for the accident.
