The Supreme Court has ordered the Delhi government to relocate stray dogs to dog shelters within two months, addressing the issue of stray animals in the Delhi-NCR region. The court labeled the situation as ‘very serious’ and issued instructions to the Delhi government and municipal bodies to swiftly remove stray dogs from all areas. In response, the Delhi government, under the leadership of Development Minister Kapil Mishra, has committed to executing the court’s order within the stipulated timeframe. The government’s plan involves transferring stray dogs to shelters, a move aimed at mitigating the risk of rabies and alleviating public concerns. Mishra has stated that the government will work in coordination with all agencies to ensure the proper implementation of the order, while also prioritizing the well-being of the animals.
