A primary school headmaster in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh, has been suspended for allegedly engaging in inappropriate and obscene actions towards female students. The headmaster’s actions came to light when the students refused to go to school and informed their families. The parents brought up the matter in a committee meeting on August 6th. A formal complaint was subsequently filed with the BEO on August 7th, prompting the cluster coordinator to conduct an investigation. The investigation report was then presented to the DEO, leading to the suspension of both the headmaster and an assistant teacher. The headmaster, Netram Verma, and assistant teacher, Prasad Tiwari, were suspended. The police have also been requested to file a case. The headmaster’s suspension order details that he called students to his office, showed them obscene photos on his phone, touched them inappropriately, and committed obscene acts, which constitutes misconduct. He has been assigned to the BEO Dongargarh. The assistant teacher was suspended for keeping the incidents of inappropriate behavior secret for several years, implying that he aided the headmaster. The DEO stated that a probe was initiated following villagers’ complaints and resulted in the suspension of the headmaster and assistant teacher, along with a letter to the police for an FIR. The primary school has 70 students and two teachers, with both teachers now suspended due to the ongoing investigation.
