Fans of Rajinikanth are preparing to celebrate the release of ‘Coolie’ and the actor’s 50 years in the film industry. The Mumbai fan club is leading the charge with elaborate plans. The film ‘Coolie’ is set to hit theaters on August 14, 2025, coinciding with Rajinikanth’s golden jubilee in cinema. The Mumbai fan club head, Anandi Anand, shared details about the fan show of ‘Coolie’ which will be held at Miraj Cinema in Wadala, starting at 6 AM. The celebrations will start at 4:30 AM with fan club members from Mumbai and Mira Road displaying banners. The tradition of celebrating Rajinikanth’s films in Mumbai started in 1991 with the movie ‘Thalapathi’ at Aurora Cinema in Matunga. Nambi Rajan, the theater owner, remembers the early days when posters were taken to temples before being brought to the cinema, with coconuts being offered before entering the projection room. Now, celebrations feature digital displays, fan cutouts, and special rituals. To mark Rajinikanth’s 50 years, the fan club will have 50 women perform an aarti for a 90-foot cutout. They will also conduct an abhishek with 90 liters of milk and break 50 coconuts. Yuno Aqua Care, an organization, has declared a holiday on the release day of the film for its branches in Chennai, Bangalore, Trichy, Tirunelveli, Chengalpattu, Mattuthavani, and Arapalayam. In addition, the organization will celebrate by distributing food and sweets in orphanages and old age homes and will provide free movie tickets to its staff.
