Following the success of the Magnite, Nissan is preparing to launch a mid-size SUV in India. This SUV is part of a two-product strategy that also includes a compact MPV, similar to the Renault Triber. The mid-size SUV will be based on the third-generation Renault Duster and is scheduled for a 2026 launch in India. Testing of this SUV has already commenced.
A test model of the upcoming C-segment SUV was recently observed on Indian roads. It is anticipated to be available for sale by mid-2026. The vehicle was seen during testing in Tamil Nadu. The exterior design is heavily concealed, making it difficult to distinguish its specifics.
The design seems to closely resemble the concept model presented earlier. While the vehicle will share the CMF-B platform with the Renault version, Nissan’s design will follow its distinctive styling language.
The vehicle’s design seems influenced by the Nissan Patrol, with a signature grille, the Nissan logo, and LED daytime running lights. The front bumper will differentiate it from the Renault model. The side profile features square wheel arches, cladding, and alloy wheels. The rear will have a sculpted tailgate, a spoiler, square tail-lights, and a shark-fin antenna. Interior details are not yet known.
The SUV will utilize the Renault Duster’s engine options, including various engines and transmission choices. Nissan is expected to offer both naturally aspirated and turbo petrol engines in India, with the possibility of a strong hybrid powertrain option later.
