Former Indian cricket team coach Gary Kirsten, the mastermind behind India’s 2011 World Cup win, has identified a different highlight from his tenure. In an exclusive interview, Kirsten reflected on his time as coach from 2008 to 2011, revealing a lesser-known moment that held greater significance for him than the World Cup victory. Kirsten’s most cherished memory was not the World Cup triumph but the partnership between VVS Laxman and Ishant Sharma in the 2010 Mohali Test during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He was particularly pleased with Ishant’s progress in batting. Kirsten also expressed happiness for Gautam Gambhir’s coaching success. The Mohali Test of the 2010-11 Border-Gavaskar Trophy witnessed India’s thrilling one-wicket victory over Australia.
