Torrential rains in Jharkhand have caused significant disruption, with widespread flooding affecting both cities and villages. The monsoon season has brought considerable hardship, with many areas submerged and facing difficulties. A severe incident on August 6th resulted in seven fatalities due to lightning strikes. These deaths occurred in Palamu, Khunti, and Chaibasa districts. In the Palamu district, three women died while working in a paddy field due to a lightning strike. Another man from the same district was also killed by lightning while working in his field. In the Khunti district, a father and his young son died under a tree during a thunderstorm. From May to the end of July, more than 400 people died in various natural disasters in the state. Lightning strikes caused around 180 deaths, while snake bites claimed 100 lives, and drowning and building collapses accounted for over 100 additional fatalities.
