National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit India towards the end of August. This announcement was made during Doval’s meeting with Sergei Shoigu, the head of the Russian Security Council, in Moscow. The visit is seen as a move to bolster strategic relations between India and Russia.
Putin’s last visit to India was in December 2021. The upcoming visit will be his first since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine in February 2022. The news of Putin’s visit comes at a time when trade relations between the US and India are strained, with the US imposing increased tariffs on Indian imports.
