Large-scale preparations are in progress for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Mata Sita temple at Punora Dham in Sitamarhi, Bihar, which will take place on Friday. The ceremony is anticipated to be a grand affair, with the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, along with revered saints, enhancing its grandeur.
To facilitate the holistic development of the temple complex, a 50-acre land parcel has been acquired. The estimated total cost of this development is 165.57 crore rupees. A majestic temple, soaring to a height of 151 feet, is slated to be erected on this land. The state government has sanctioned a sum of 882.87 crore rupees to cover the complete development of the temple and its surrounding areas.
The construction of the temple complex is scheduled to be completed within 11 months, equivalent to 42 weeks. The Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation will be responsible for monitoring the construction process. The construction work will commence swiftly after the groundbreaking ceremony, which will be officiated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The temple complex will also include a range of tourist-oriented amenities.
The planned amenities encompass a temple enclosure, a pilgrim facilitation center, an auditorium, a guest house, the Mata Janaki Kund Ghat, a community kitchen, the temple entrance, public facilities, a yajna mandap, a tourist information center, tensile umbrellas, an e-cart station, facilities for offering prasad and a kitchen, a museum, a venue for devotional singing, a Mithila Haat, a Vedic school and library, a cafeteria and food court, pilgrim dormitory accommodations, and pathways with parking for the temple road. Punora Dham is recognized as a significant pilgrimage site for Hindus.
