The deployment of CISF personnel inside the Rajya Sabha has ignited a strong reaction from opposition parties. Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury spearheaded the criticism, along with other prominent members like John Brittas, Tiruchi Siva, and Priyanka Chaturvedi. They raised questions about the implications of the security measures on democratic principles. Chowdhury questioned the government’s actions, asking if the parliamentarians were being treated as terrorists or Naxalites. She expressed her frustration at the government’s focus on intimidation rather than addressing real threats. Chowdhury stated that they would not be deterred by such actions and would continue to voice their concerns. She highlighted the targeting of female MPs in the parliament. Chowdhury further pointed out the government’s failure to capture genuine terrorists. She highlighted the time it took to catch those involved in the Pahalgam attack and questioned the credibility of the arrests. She cautioned that women’s anger should be heeded.
