Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai meets Union Jal Shakti Minister Shri C R Patil, discussion on Bodhghat project
New Delhi, August 1, 2025/Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai today had a courtesy meeting with Union Jal Shakti Minister Shri C. R. Patil in New Delhi. During this, there was a detailed discussion on the state’s important water projects, especially the much-awaited Bodhghat multipurpose project of the Bastar region.
Chief Minister Shri Sai informed Union Minister Shri C R Patil that the Bodhghat project is extremely important from the point of view of irrigation, drinking water supply and energy production in Bastar.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the Bastar region has been lagging behind the mainstream of development for decades. The top priority of the present government is to free this area from Naxal violence and make it economically and socially empowered. He said that the proposed Bodhghat multipurpose project for Bastar will ensure irrigation of about 8 lakh hectares of land and production of 125 MW of electricity.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Shri Sai also said that the Naxal influence in the Bastar region has now significantly reduced and a favorable environment is being created for development works. In such a situation, projects like Bodhghat can play an important role in making this region economically strong. He discussed in detail with the Union Minister about taking necessary initiatives regarding the construction of this project as a national project.
Union Jal Shakti Minister Shri C. R. Patil, while appreciating the efforts of the state government, assured to conduct a quick technical examination of the proposals related to the project.
Chief Minister Shri Sai expressed hope that with the cooperation of the central government, the Bodhghat project will soon take shape and it will become the main basis for the economic progress and social change of Bastar.
