In a gruesome case from Adhaura, Balrampur, a woman is accused of murdering her husband by electrocution. The motive appears to be the husband’s second marriage, which the wife, Parvati Gupta, strongly opposed. She allegedly tied up her husband, Manoj Gupta, before subjecting him to the fatal electric shock.
The incident took place in Adhaura village, under the jurisdiction of the Balrampur police station. The deceased, Manoj Gupta (50), was found in a semi-nude condition. The police have initiated a probe, sending the body for a post-mortem. The victim had two wives; his first marriage was 27 years prior with Parvati Gupta, with whom he had a son and two daughters. Later, he married a 22-year-old woman, sparking family disputes as this second marriage was not accepted by all. Manoj had relocated to a rented house with his second wife.
Following the second marriage, Manoj Gupta had transferred his entire property, including land, a shop, and rental vehicles, to his first wife. Despite this, the first wife and her family allegedly continued to harass him, demanding a large sum of money. It is alleged that Manoj Gupta was lured to his house, where he was bound, electrocuted, and killed. The presence of his daughter and son-in-law during the incident is also alleged. Following the event, Parvati Gupta was admitted to the district hospital.
According to Balrampur TI Bhupendra Sahu, the body was discovered in a semi-nude state, with bound hands and feet. The police are treating it as a suspected murder and are conducting further investigations. The investigation is ongoing, and more information is expected to come to light soon.
