Tejashwi Yadav, a prominent figure in the RJD, launched a scathing attack on the Bihar government, accusing it of being a ‘double-engine’ of crime and corruption. Following a coordination committee meeting of the India alliance, Yadav told reporters that one engine is engaged in criminal activities while the other is marred by corruption. He said the current Chief Minister seems inert. The Mahagathbandhan plans to mobilize and engage with the public through rallies and public outreach in the coming days. The issues to be highlighted will include the rights of the people and irregularities in voter registration. Rahul Gandhi will join these public engagements. Yadav pointed out that Bihar lags behind in education, healthcare, income, and irrigation, but leads in migration, poverty, and unemployment. He also commented on the CAG report, claiming a Rs 80,000 crore scandal. He criticised the government for not clarifying the issue, stating that this validates the allegations of corruption. He added that such large scams typically occur when the BJP is in power. The Bihar Assembly elections are expected at the end of the year, with the current term expiring on November 22, 2025. The Election Commission is yet to announce the dates; however, the election is likely to be held in October or November 2025, possibly in multiple phases. The first phase of the SIR is complete. According to this, Bihar has 7.24 crore voters. The draft will be published on August 1, 2025, and the final voter list will be issued on September 30, 2025.
