In a sharp exchange in the Rajya Sabha concerning the China issue during the Operation Sindoor debate, External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar launched an attack on the Opposition. He referred to certain individuals as “China Gurus,” highlighting what he viewed as an overly affectionate relationship with China, specifically pointing out Jairam Ramesh. Jaishankar expressed skepticism about the Opposition’s grasp of Chinese affairs, suggesting their knowledge came from the Olympics. He asserted that the close relationship between Pakistan and China is a recognized fact that the government is actively managing. He criticized the notion that these ties were recent, implying that the Opposition was ignorant of the historical development.
Jaishankar also recounted the events surrounding Operation Sindoor. He mentioned a warning from US Vice President Vance regarding a potential Pakistani attack. India’s response disabled Pakistani air defense systems. Jaishankar emphasized that India received no requests from any world leader to halt its operations and there were no trade discussions. He also confirmed that there were no communications between the Indian Prime Minister and President Trump.
