*Decision taken by relaxing the rules on the special initiative of Chief Minister Shri Sai*
Raipur, July 30, 2025/ A major step has been taken to promote the training and development of emerging cricket players of the state in accordance with the intention of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai. In a cabinet meeting held today under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister at the Mahanadi Bhawan, Secretariat, it has been decided to allot 7.96 acres of land in Sector-3, Gram-Parsada, Nava Raipur Atal Nagar to Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association for the establishment of a cricket academy. It is noteworthy that under the government expenditure rules, there is no provision for direct land allocation to non-profit organizations, but in this special case, the state government has relaxed the rules and taken this decision, so that a cricket academy can be established in the interest of the players.
It is noteworthy that the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association has been granted full-time recognition from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2016. For this, the Town Development Authority has identified a total of 7.96 acres of land.
There are immense possibilities in the field of cricket in the state of Chhattisgarh. Many players of the state have shown their talent at the national level. Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium is present in Nava Raipur, but the need for an academy was being felt for international level facilities and training. This decision will provide excellent opportunities for the talented youth of the state to move forward in cricket and the state will get special recognition at the national and international level. This step of the Chhattisgarh government will not only open new doors of opportunity for the young cricketers of the state, but will also help in giving a strong identity to Chhattisgarh in the field of sports.
