In a significant ruling, a Delhi court has intervened in a case where a man accused a woman of emotional and sexual harassment. The court’s decision, made in Rohini, included a restraining order against Nancy, preventing her from contacting or approaching the man, Mukesh Taneja. This action highlights the court’s stance that harassment is not limited by gender.
The legal proceedings, identified as Mukesh Taneja vs. Nancy Verma & Anr., detailed how Taneja, who met Nancy at an ashram, became the target of unwanted romantic pursuit. Despite his rejection, Nancy allegedly persisted, employing emotional tactics, including threats, to coerce him. The court reviewed evidence such as text messages and security footage and determined that Taneja had a strong case. The court’s directive prevents Nancy and her husband from coming within 300 meters of Taneja’s home in Vijay Nagar and forbids any form of communication. The case is a reminder that legal protection exists for all individuals, and unwanted advances can lead to legal consequences. Advocate Divya Tripathi represented the complainant.
