In a display of devotion, 60 Kanwariyas from Bhagwanpur Vishunpur Bande village in Vaishali district embarked on a pilgrimage to the Baba Garibnath Temple in Muzaffarpur, bearing a 331-foot-long Kanwar on the third Monday of Sawan. The Kanwariyas are carrying water from the Paleza Ghat in Saran district, walking a distance of approximately 70 kilometers to reach the temple.
This unique Kanwar, constructed under the guidance of Mahesh Gupta, has been a tradition for five years, with the Kanwariyas undertaking this journey annually. The construction of the Kanwar involved an expenditure of 1.5 lakh rupees, with support from the local villagers. Crowds gathered along the Paleza Ghat to Hajipur-Muzaffarpur Kanwar route to witness this exceptional display of faith.
A woman from Hajipur expressed her awe at witnessing the 331-foot Kanwar for the first time, emphasizing the importance of visiting Lord Shiva’s temple. Mahesh Bhagat, leading the procession, stated that the group comprises 60 Shiva devotees, accompanied by 40 others assisting the Kanwar Yatra.
The Kanwar Yatra sees a total of 100 Shiva devotees participating. The atmosphere along the route is filled with the chants of ‘Bol Bam’ as the devotees make their way to Baba Garibnath Temple. They are carrying water from the Uttarahini Ganga at Paleza Ghat, approximately 70 kilometers from the temple. Mahesh Bhagat highlighted that this is the fifth consecutive year of their Kanwar Yatra.
