Hareli festival at Chief Minister’s residence: A unique glimpse of tradition and progress was seen
Attractive exhibition of traditional-modern agricultural implements, folk costumes

Raipur, July 24, 2025/ Hareli Tihar, a symbol of Chhattisgarh’s cultural identity and agricultural traditions, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and dignity this year at the residence premises of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai. On this occasion, the state’s rich heritage, traditional agricultural implements, folk costumes, food and modern agricultural techniques came together in the form of a wonderful sight. The venue was decorated in traditional Chhattisgarhi style, where guests, artists and the general public wearing rural attire were seen immersed in folk culture.
During the Hareli festival, traditional and modern agricultural implements were displayed at the Chief Minister’s residence. Chief Minister Shri Sai visited the exhibition site and inspected various traditional implements and objects. Historical agricultural implements like Katha, Khumri, Jhanpi, Kansi ki Dori and Tutari were displayed in the exhibition. Exhibition of modern agricultural implements organized by the Department of Agriculture, in which implements like Nangar, Kudali, Phawada, Rotavator, Seed Drill, Power Tiller and Sprayer were displayed. ‘Katha’ is the traditional measuring instrument used to weigh paddy in old times; ‘Khumri’ is a hat made of bamboo and cowries that provides shade; ‘Jhanpi’ is a bamboo box for keeping items used in weddings; ‘Kansi ki Dori’ is used in weaving cots and ‘Tutari’ is used in handling animals.
Chief Minister Shri Sai also said that Hareli Tihar is not just a festival, but it is a symbol of our respect for agricultural life, livestock and nature. The exhibition organized on this occasion was informative and inspiring for farmers, youth and the general public. The Chief Minister appreciated the agricultural technical progress by taking information about these equipments and said that the farming of Chhattisgarh will become even more beneficial and sustainable with the coordination of tradition and technology. By giving information about new technologies to the farmers, we can take the agricultural productivity of the state to new heights. A large number of common citizens, farmers, students and public representatives were present in the program. This event presented the unique confluence of Chhattisgarh’s folk culture and agricultural innovation in a lively form, which is a symbol of the state’s rich tradition and developing thinking.
