A tragic incident unfolded in the Amleshwar area where two minors are confirmed to have drowned in the Khairun River. The incident took place on Wednesday when a group of six friends went for a swim. Two of the youths were caught in a powerful current and whirlpool, leading to their disappearance. On Thursday, the SDRF team successfully recovered the body of a 16-year-old minor. The search operations are currently underway to locate the second missing minor, aged 15.
The deceased has been identified as Ashish Saroj, residing in Bajrang Nagar. He had joined a group of friends from Jamraw village for a swim. While swimming, both Ashish and his friend Yashwant Harpal were pulled under by the river’s strong currents. The other friends alerted nearby residents and the authorities immediately, but their rescue attempts were unsuccessful.
After an extensive, overnight search lasting eight hours, the SDRF team continued its efforts. This morning, with expertise from deep diving specialists Indrapal Yadav and Rajkumar Yadav, Ashish’s body was recovered from the river after a two-hour dive and handed over to the police. The whereabouts of Yashwant remain unknown, and the search continues.
The police have sent Ashish’s body to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The local community and the families involved are deeply saddened by this unfortunate event.
