Elephant movement has picked up pace in the Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh. On Friday morning, the sighting of two tuskers in the Rajim area created a sense of panic.
Reports indicate one elephant is located in the Khudesa forest and another in the Tarjungha forest, both situated just 5 km from the Nagar Panchayat Fingeshwar. One elephant is believed to have come from the Mahasamund district, while the other has entered the area from the Dhamtari district border. Given the gravity of the situation, the Forest Department has placed around 25 villages on high alert. Residents are being warned against entering the forest, and public announcements are being made to raise awareness.
The Forest Department team and the Elephant Mitra Dal are actively involved in monitoring to prevent any harm to people or damage to crops. The Forest Department has requested that villagers disregard any rumors and work with forest personnel.
The Forest Department is closely watching the developments.
Villagers are advised to remain cautious and calm.
