Raipur, Chhattisgarh – Authorities in Raipur have seized a large quantity of fake paneer, exceeding 1,500 kilograms, in a pre-festival crackdown. The Food and Drug Administration department conducted the operation, targeting the sale of counterfeit products before the upcoming Raksha Bandhan and Independence Day celebrations. In addition to the paneer seizure, the department also cracked down on illegal phenyl and acid manufacturing units operating in the Gudhiyari, Bhathagaon, and Tatibandh areas. These units were found to be producing dangerous substances in violation of safety regulations.
The raid was carried out by a team of food safety officers, including Siddharth Pandey, Ehsan Tigga, and Satish Raj, at the Raipur railway station and Bhathagaon bus stand. The seized paneer, totaling 1,535 kilograms, was traced back to Shri Dairy & Sweets, Boriya Khurd, with an estimated market value of Rs 3.34 lakh. Legal samples were collected from the seized products in the presence of Proprietor Saurabh Sharma, and the entire stock was sealed and stored securely.
Simultaneously, the department investigated illegal manufacturing units that were producing phenyl and acid. It was discovered that these factories were producing acid, which is highly corrosive and dangerous without proper labeling, warnings, and chemical composition details. The department has sealed the factories and initiated legal proceedings to address the violations.
