As part of an ongoing investigation aimed at curbing the illicit liquor trade, the Excise Department in Balodabazar has made a substantial seizure. The operation resulted in the confiscation of 135 bulk liters of unauthorized Desi Masala liquor and a car. Acting on specific intelligence, officials intercepted and searched a white i-20 vehicle traveling on the Chourenga-Darchura route. The search uncovered 750 pouches of Desi Masala liquor, amounting to 135 bulk liters. The individuals apprehended were identified as Monu alias Girit Verma, a resident of Chourenga village under the Simga police station, and Rakesh Kumar Sen. The seized liquor was found in 11 plastic sacks, each containing 50 pouches, and a blue bag holding 200 pouches. The suspects were arrested in front of witnesses. The estimated market value of the seized liquor is approximately ₹75,000, and the seized i-20 vehicle is valued at ₹5 lakh. The accused have been charged under sections 34(2), 59(k), and 36 of the Chhattisgarh Excise Act, 1915. The investigation is ongoing. The operation was carried out under the guidance of Assistant District Excise Officer Jalesh Kumar Singh, Excise Sub-Inspectors Manrakhan Netam and Dinesh Kumar Sahu, Excise Head Constable Radha Giri Goswami, and City Soldier Rajkumari Paikra. The District Excise Officer emphasized the department’s commitment to continuing the crackdown on illegal alcohol.
