Two education envoys were killed by Maoists in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. The bodies were found in the forest of Pilur village on July 15th. One of the victims, Vinod Made, was identified as an education worker. The Maoists have accused the victims of providing information to the police. Authorities have not yet officially confirmed the details of the incident, which occurred in the Pharasgarh police station area.
This recent incident is part of a pattern. In the last fortnight, Maoists have killed six people in Bijapur, suspecting them of being informants. Among those killed were four villagers and two students. Over the course of the last 25 years, the Maoists have killed a total of 1,821 people.
