President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran suffered minor leg injuries when escaping an alleged Israeli air strike on a meeting of the Supreme National Security Council in Tehran. The attack, which occurred on June 15, targeted a gathering of top government officials, including the heads of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches. The official said the aim was to eliminate key leaders. The building was targeted with six missiles, damaging entrances and exits, and cutting off airflow. Emergency exits allowed officials to escape, but the president was injured in the process. Iranian authorities are investigating how the alleged attackers obtained such precise intelligence. In a recent interview, President Pezeshkian said that Israel tried to assassinate him. The incident is connected to an earlier Israeli bombing campaign that led to deaths. The attacks also resulted in retaliatory actions and, eventually, a US-brokered ceasefire.
