The Uttarakhand government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, has initiated ‘Operation Kaalnemi’ to crack down on individuals impersonating saints and committing fraud. The initiative aims to hold accountable those who misuse Sanatan Dharma for deceitful practices and manipulate the faith of others. This action is in response to increasing reports of imposters, often targeting women, who pose as religious figures to cheat people. The Chief Minister has directed authorities to take stringent measures, ensuring that all involved, irrespective of their religious background, are held responsible. CM Dhami underscored that such acts not only hurt religious sentiments but also undermine social cohesion and damage the reputation of Sanatan Dharma. He likened the perpetrators to the demon Kaalnemi, who attempted to deceive by assuming a saintly appearance. The state government is dedicated to protecting public sentiments, preserving the integrity of Sanatan culture, and promoting social harmony, with a commitment to not sparing anyone involved in spreading deception under the pretense of faith. The CM emphasized that Uttarakhand, the ‘Land of Gods’, is characterized by its innocent and simple populace. Regrettably, some antisocial elements are exploiting this trust by impersonating saints to deceive people. The police and administration have been tasked with identifying and apprehending such individuals through Operation Kaalnemi.
