Heavy rainfall has led to a landslide on the Rudraprayag-Badrinath route, prompting immediate restoration efforts. A passenger, Dilpreet, shared his experience of being stuck on the route for four hours, unable to proceed towards Rishikesh. He described the presence of significant stone and debris blocking the road. Cranes have been mobilized to clear the route. The incident adds to existing challenges, including a recent cloudburst near Mukh village, close to Nandprayag Ghat in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand, which occurred on July 8. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has confirmed there have been no reported injuries. An SDRF team is on-site to assess the extent of the damage. Furthermore, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued an alert for heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand for the next four days. Prior to this, the Kedarnath Dham Yatra in Rudraprayag district was temporarily suspended after a landslide damaged a pedestrian track close to Gaurikund.
