New Delhi witnessed widespread waterlogging after a mere hour of rainfall, exposing the perceived failure of the BJP-led government to manage monsoon preparedness. AAP leaders, including Saurabh Bharadwaj, the Delhi State President, expressed strong criticism of the BJP. They posted pictures and videos on social media, demonstrating the extent of flooding and its impact on traffic.
Bharadwaj specifically mentioned the state of roads in Lutyens’ Delhi, close to the PWD Minister’s residence, as evidence of the government’s lack of readiness. He referenced the claims made by BJP officials, such as Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, about adequate preparations to prevent waterlogging. Ankush Narang, the Leader of Opposition in the MCD House, also criticized the BJP, mocking their promises of a pleasurable monsoon experience, contrasting it with the reality of submerged vehicles and flooded streets. The AAP leaders said the situation demonstrated the failure of the four “engines” of the BJP government in power.
