Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Windhoek, Namibia, on Wednesday, marking his inaugural visit to the country and the third instance of an Indian Prime Minister visiting Namibia. The visit, a State Visit, was at the invitation of President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah. The Prime Minister received a ceremonial welcome upon his arrival at Hosea Kutako International Airport.
The MEA stated that the visit is a reaffirmation of India’s long-standing relationship with Namibia. Key activities during the visit include bilateral discussions with President Nandi-Ndaitwah, a homage to Dr. Sam Nujoma, and an address to the Namibian Parliament.
Prior to Namibia, PM Modi concluded a State visit to Brazil. He attended the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro and conducted bilateral talks with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. In Brazil, he was also awarded the Grand Collar of the National Order of the Southern Cross. The visit to Namibia concludes a five-nation tour, which included Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, and Brazil.
