The Chhattisgarh government has initiated preparations to commemorate Independence Day across the state with grandeur. A recent state-level coordination meeting, led by the Additional Chief Secretary, established guidelines for the event. The meeting mandated that the celebrations be conducted with decorum, efficiency, and a strong nationalistic spirit, as in previous years.
The primary Independence Day event will take place at the Police Parade Ground in Raipur, commencing at 9 AM. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai will preside over the event, hoist the national flag, and deliver a message to the public. A ceremonial guard of honor will be presented to the Chief Minister by a combined parade.
The Inspector General of Police, Chhattisgarh Armed Forces, will oversee the parade, which will feature contingents from various forces including BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, Chhattisgarh Armed Forces (both male and female), the Home Guard, and NCC cadets. Awards and medals will be presented by different departments; they are instructed to form juries and submit their selection lists to the General Administration Department by July 29, 2025. Late submissions will not be considered.
Chief Minister Sai’s address to the public will be broadcast statewide via Doordarshan and All India Radio. Post-ceremony, students will present patriotic performances. The School Education Department will manage the children’s program and award distribution. Key responsibilities for the main ceremony are delegated to the Collector, Superintendent of Police, and Municipal Commissioner of Raipur.
Public buildings and national monuments across the state will be illuminated on the night of August 15. Private institutions are also encouraged to participate in flag hoisting and lighting. Collectors have been instructed to organize local events and exhibitions. Freedom fighters and families of soldiers who died in Naxalite violence will be honored guests.
