President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the United States is on the verge of a trade agreement with India, while also introducing new tariffs on 14 countries. Speaking at the White House alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump highlighted deals already made with the UK and China. He explained that letters were dispatched to countries that were unlikely to reach agreements with the US, detailing the imposed tariffs. The President indicated that these tariffs are reciprocal and that he may reduce them if the involved countries alter their trade policies. The countries affected by the tariffs include Thailand, Myanmar, Bangladesh, South Korea, and Japan, among others. These tariffs will take effect on August 1. Trump outlined specific tariff rates for each nation, with some facing rates up to 40 percent. The White House Press Secretary announced that the implementation date for these tariffs has been pushed back to August 1, extending the original deadline set by the President for trade negotiations.
