The Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, will lay the foundation stone for the Tribhuvan Sahkari University (TSU) in Anand, Gujarat on July 5th. This will mark the establishment of India’s first national-level cooperative university. Alongside the foundation stone ceremony, Shah will participate in a tree planting campaign, ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,’ and unveil an educational module designed by the National Center for Educational Research and Training (NCERT). The TSU’s core objective is to cultivate a skilled workforce for the cooperative sector, offering specialized training and research opportunities in areas such as cooperative management and rural development. The university will implement the National Education Policy 2020, providing diverse academic programs, and will connect over 200 existing cooperative institutions. Addressing the need for skilled personnel, the university aims to train a vast number of cooperative society members in the coming years. To enhance the quality of cooperative education, PhD programs will be introduced. A dedicated research and development council will be set up to promote research and innovation. Amit Shah will also participate in ‘Sahkar Samvad’ in Ahmedabad and an event at Amul Dairy to commemorate four years of the Ministry of Cooperation.
