*Modern isolation wards are strengthening the health infrastructure in the state: innovative alternative use is being done in the absence of the pandemic*
*Modern health facilities reach rural areas through ECRP and NABARD schemes*
Raipur, July 2, 2025/ Solid steps have been taken in Chhattisgarh with the aim of strengthening preparations to deal with epidemics like Covid-19 and providing quality medical services to the general public. Under the Emergency Covid Response and Health System Preparedness Package (ECRP), additional isolation wards have been approved in 571 health centers of the state – which include 62 community health centers, 385 sub-health centers and 124 primary health centers. Construction of 422 buildings has been completed and 141 wards are under construction. All these isolation wards will not only be ready for future health emergencies, but are also contributing to making the current health system comprehensive and strong.
It is noteworthy that isolation facilities have also been developed on a large scale in the state under the NABARD-funded scheme. Under this scheme, modern isolation wards of 20 beds in 25 district hospitals and 10 beds in 170 community health centers have been established, which were constructed for the separate treatment of patients during the Covid epidemic. Currently, in the absence of the epidemic, innovative alternative use of these buildings is being done. They are being used as store rooms for the safe storage of medical equipment and medicines, and they are also being used as training centers and meeting rooms. Isolation buildings have increased the efficiency of health institutions many times over. Their multi-purpose use has facilitated the functioning of health workers and has also strengthened the capacity for rapid preparations in emergency situations.
Health department officials said that the building of the isolation ward in Ratanpur Community Health Center has not been handed over yet due to technical reasons. Soon, after completing the necessary processes, it will also be included in the health services.
All these isolation wards have been designed in such a way that they can be activated at short notice if needed. This initiative of the state government is an important step towards making the health facilities of Chhattisgarh strong, capable and fully prepared for the future.
