The political landscape of Bihar is abuzz following a controversial statement by RJD MLC Urmila Thakur. Thakur compared RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav to Lord Shiva, a statement that has drawn sharp criticism from rival parties. The remarks were made during a public event in Muzaffarpur, where Thakur was participating in the unveiling of a statue of BR Ambedkar.
In her speech, Thakur declared Yadav as a ‘living God’, a statement that has been widely circulated and debated. A video clip of her speech shows her saying: ‘After Lord Shiva, if there is any other living God, a God on Earth to bless, then that person is Lalu Prasad Yadav.’
The comparison has triggered strong reactions from political opponents. JDU leader Neeraj Kumar criticized the statement, saying Lalu Yadav brought chaos to Bihar, while BJP spokesperson Prabhakar Mishra called the comparison an insult to the Sanatan Dharma.
