Starting July 1st, the Delhi government will enforce stricter regulations on older vehicles, with potential seizure for non-compliance. The CAQM is behind the new rules, targeting vehicles found at fuel stations or parked in public areas. Penalties of Rs 10,000 will be levied on EOL vehicle owners, and Rs 5,000 for two-wheelers. Any petrol vehicle older than 15 years and diesel vehicles older than 10 years from their registration will be categorized as EOL. These vehicles won’t be offered fuel. Impounded vehicles will be sent to registered scrapping facilities. Vehicle owners wanting to relocate outside of Delhi must obtain an NOC within one year of their registration’s last date. Five NCR districts will follow suit from November 1, including Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budhnagar, and Sonipat, with fuel restrictions commencing April 1, 2026. Enforcement teams will actively remove EOL vehicles. Delhi has a substantial number of EOL vehicles, including a large number of two-wheelers.
