Dayanidhi Bagh, the Joint Director of Soil Conservation & Watershed Development in Bhubaneswar, is in custody after an Odisha Vigilance investigation. The investigation revealed that he had amassed assets worth several crores of rupees, exceeding his legitimate income sources. The raid uncovered a 3-BHK flat, 312 grams of gold, bank deposits exceeding Rs 58 lakh, and a vehicle registered under someone else’s name. Bagh’s landholdings totaled 84 acres, featuring two farmhouses in Nabarangpur. One farmhouse spanning 40 acres had advanced irrigation systems and farm equipment worth around Rs 1 crore. The other, spread across 6 acres, also had a drip irrigation setup and a concrete residence, estimated at Rs 46,12,665. Additionally, 11 acres were identified near Bhawanipatna, along with a commercial complex in Nabarangpur. The arrest was made because Bagh couldn’t provide satisfactory documentation for his wealth. The case is connected to an earlier incident involving four watershed officials in Rayagada district accused of embezzling funds.
