From July 2nd to July 9th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a significant foreign tour spanning five nations. This trip is notable as the longest diplomatic venture for him in the past decade. The tour agenda is strategically focused on South America, the Caribbean, and Africa.
The Ministry of External Affairs has outlined the itinerary, starting in Ghana and concluding in Namibia, with intermediate visits to Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, and Brazil. Key highlights include the first visit to Ghana by an Indian Prime Minister in 30 years, involving support for a vaccine production center and an address to Parliament. A visit to Trinidad and Tobago, at the invitation of Prime Minister Kamala Prasad-Bissessar, will also be the first in 25 years, including an address to the joint parliamentary session. Bilateral talks in Argentina with President Javier Miley will target strengthening cooperation in various sectors. The Prime Minister will also attend the 17th BRICS summit in Brazil, where he is expected to address the topic of terrorism. Lastly, the visit to Namibia will mark the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 27 years, with discussions centered on introducing India’s UPI digital payment system.
