The assault on Ratnakar Sahoo, Additional Commissioner of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, has drawn strong condemnation from Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi. The BJP leader made it clear that the attack does not align with the party’s values. The incident took place during a grievance redressal meeting at the BMC office, where Sahoo was allegedly assaulted.
Sarangi has requested that Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi take decisive action to prevent future occurrences. She emphasized that the BJP’s policies do not support such acts, despite acknowledging that she knew some of the people involved. The police have taken action and arrested three individuals in connection with the incident.
The Odisha Administrative Service Association decided to postpone a planned protest after discussions with the Chief Minister, who assured them of strict punishment for those responsible. The incident has sparked a political debate, with the opposition parties also strongly condemning the assault. Former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed deep concern and called for severe action against those involved, including any political figures who may have been involved.
