Chief Minister Mr. Sai meets Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development Smt. Savitri Thakur
159 Anganwadi centers in Naxal areas, ₹10,431 crore to 70 lakh women – a new example of empowerment
Raipur, June 29, 2025/Today, Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development Smt. Savitri Thakur had a courtesy meeting with Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai at the Chief Minister’s residence in Raipur, the capital. During this, Chief Minister Mr. Sai discussed in detail with Smt. Thakur various schemes being implemented for the welfare of women and children in the state.
Chief Minister Mr. Sai said that the Chhattisgarh government is focusing on empowering women and children in particular under the resolve of the state’s overall development. He informed that under the Niyad Nellanar scheme, 159 Anganwadi centers are being successfully operated by the Women and Child Development Department in the Naxal-affected districts of Bijapur, Sukma, Kanker, Dantewada and Narayanpur. This initiative is playing an important role in directly delivering the government’s schemes to the last mile in those remote areas.
Chief Minister Mr. Sai also informed that under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, an amount of ₹10,431.30 crore has been transferred directly to the bank accounts of more than 70 lakh women during the period from March 2024 to June 2025. This has provided a strong basis for women’s economic self-reliance.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister honored Union Minister of State Smt. Thakur by presenting her with a shawl and a Shriphal. During the meeting, the State Minister of Women and Child Development Smt. Lakshmi Rajwade and the Chairperson of the State Child Protection Commission Dr. Varnika Sharma were present.
