Donald Trump has strongly criticized Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei over claims of victory in the recent conflict with Israel, while also warning of potential US military strikes against Iran. Trump, speaking on his Truth Social platform, accused Khamenei of making false claims about the war’s outcome. He claimed to have intervened to prevent Khamenei’s assassination and indicated he stopped Israel from delivering a final blow. Khamenei, in his first remarks since the ceasefire, said Iran had retaliated against the US through missile attacks. Trump responded by halting talks regarding sanctions relief and other diplomatic initiatives. He later affirmed the possibility of new air strikes if Iran didn’t dismantle its nuclear program. Following the attacks, Iran suspended cooperation with the IAEA, and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi suggested Iran might reject IAEA inspection requests. Meanwhile, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz confirmed that Israel remained in a state of war readiness with Iran and outlined plans to maintain military advantage and respond to Iranian actions.
