The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), through MLA Shankar Ghosh, has intensified its criticism of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, demanding her resignation in the wake of a reported gangrape in Kolkata. Ghosh believes the incident reveals the true nature of the ruling TMC, specifically their approach to women’s safety. He expressed concern over the escalating violence against women in the state and directly held CM Banerjee responsible. Ghosh accused Banerjee of providing a safe haven for criminals through her perceived weak responses to crimes against women, thereby enabling them to commit further offenses. The BJP leader also condemned remarks made by another TMC leader, Kalyan Banerjee, concerning the incident at South Calcutta Law College, where the alleged gangrape occurred. Three individuals have been arrested by the police in connection to the case.
