Mohammed Shami has called for the Indian bowlers to collaborate with and learn from Jasprit Bumrah, after the first Test defeat against England at Headingley. Shami was critical of the bowling performance, noting that apart from Bumrah, the other bowlers struggled to contain the English batsmen, who achieved a successful run chase. He suggested that the other bowlers should discuss strategies with Bumrah and offer him support. He also pointed out the need to pick up early wickets with the new ball. Shami highlighted how the wickets taken by Shardul Thakur and Prasidh Krishna came when England had already gained control of the game. He believes the team needs to work on its bowling strategy to prevent giving away easy runs.
