The Tamil film industry is reeling from another drug-related controversy as actor Krishna has been detained by police. This development comes shortly after the arrest of fellow actor Srikanth in a narcotics investigation. Krishna, who was initially reported as missing, is now in police custody. The police investigation involved extensive questioning of Krishna, including a review of his banking records, communication logs, and potential connections to an individual linked to the AIADMK. The inquiry was initiated following the arrest of drug supplier Pradeep, who implicated Krishna in the supply of drugs to a former IT wing member of the AIADMK.
Krishna, son of producer K.K. Shekhar and brother of director Vishnuvardhan, began his acting career as a child artist. He has appeared in films such as ‘Iruvar’ and ‘The Terrorist’ and gained recognition for his performances in movies including ‘Kazhugu,’ ‘Yaamirukka Bayamey,’ and ‘Maari 2’. Krishna was slated to make his Malayalam debut with ‘Picasso’, but the film’s future is uncertain due to the ongoing investigation. His personal life includes a divorce in 2014 and a reported remarriage in June 2025.
The investigation intensified with Srikanth’s arrest, based on testimony from Pradeep. Krishna was apprehended while attempting to travel to Kerala and is now under investigation. The police are examining his financial transactions and personal contacts closely. Drug supplier Prashanth’s statement further complicates matters, revealing that Srikanth purchased cocaine during the filming of ‘Theingarai’ and that he and Krishna allegedly used drugs together at various parties in Chennai. This statement is considered crucial evidence.
