A man in Sahibganj, Jharkhand, is now facing a significant financial penalty after being caught in a compromising situation with a married woman who is the mother of four children. The incident unfolded when the man visited his girlfriend late at night. When villagers discovered them, they were initially tied up. The man was reportedly beaten unconscious, and a village council later decided he must pay a fine of 300,000 rupees. Police were notified and arrived to release the pair.
The incident took place in Basko village, under the Boriyo police station. The woman, estimated to be 30 years old and from a tribal community, was found with the man late on Monday. The man, Umesh Singh (22), a tempo driver from Vangawa village, was caught by villagers and brought before the village head. After being restrained for about ten hours, the panchayat was convened, and the fine was immediately announced. A video of the event has circulated widely online.
The woman’s husband had prior suspicions about the relationship. The police arrived and took the couple into custody. SDPO Kishore Tirkey confirmed that no official complaint has been filed, but the police are investigating the matter.
