The Smart City Mission celebrated its tenth anniversary with a special event. Rupa Mishra, the Joint Secretary and Director of the Smart City Mission from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, spoke to the CEOs and officials of all smart cities via video conferencing. Mishra extended her congratulations, noting the mission’s significant role in accelerating and positively changing the landscape of urbanization in India. She stressed the need to sustain this progress and confirmed the SPVs would continue their work. They aim to utilize expert knowledge in future urbanization plans.
Ranchi Smart City also shared details of its ongoing projects with the Indian government. Rakesh Kumar Nandkyoliyar, General Manager (Technical) of Ranchi Smart City Corporation, discussed their Greenfield project, which is reshaping Ranchi. The government is also planning similar Greenfield developments across other regions.
The Director of the Smart City Mission commended the project, emphasizing that similar initiatives should be implemented in other cities. The Smart City Mission, under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, will develop a blueprint modeled after Ranchi Smart City. This blueprint aims to ensure systematic urban growth, offer superior facilities, generate employment, and promote self-reliance via land monetization.
