The MPV market in India is experiencing a transformation, with new models challenging the dominance of established players like the Ertiga and XL6. Kia’s entry with the Carens and soon-to-come Clavis has added to the momentum. Recognizing the demand for MPVs under Rs 15 lakh, several brands are set to introduce their offerings. Kia is planning to launch the Clavis EV, an all-electric version of the Clavis, featuring design and interior upgrades. It is likely to utilize a similar powertrain as the Creta Electric, potentially offering a range of over 450km and various safety features. MG is also entering the luxury MPV segment with the all-electric M9. The M9 will be available in three colors and sold through select outlets, competing in style with the Kia Carnival. It will boast a 90KWh battery, providing 245 BHP, 350Nm torque and a range of approximately 430Km. Prices are expected to begin around Rs 60 lakh. Nissan is also set to introduce a compact MPV, based on the Renault Kiger platform, which will target the budget-conscious segment. The Nissan Compact MPV will be powered by 1.0 Litre Na and Turbo petrol engine.
