Exercise SHAKTI-VIII, a joint military exercise between India and France, is taking place at Camp Larzac, La Cavalerie, in Southern France. The exercise focuses on improving interoperability, tactical coordination, and mutual trust between the participating forces. The Indian Army contingent, led by a battalion from the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, is training alongside the French Army’s 13^e Foreign Legion Half-Brigade (13e DBLE). Drills include combat shooting, obstacle courses, and joint planning, simulating realistic battlefield scenarios. The combat shooting segment highlights modern small arms from both countries. The Indian Army demonstrated the capabilities of its indigenous weapons, while the French contingent showcased their frontline systems. Electronic Warfare (EW) and Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS) training are also key components. The exercise strengthens Indo-French defence ties and reinforces shared objectives for regional stability and security.
