The IMD has issued a warning for heavy rainfall across India from June 22 to 27. States like Gujarat, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathawada are under a severe weather alert with predictions of extremely heavy downpours. Northeast India is also bracing for heavy to very heavy rainfall for the next seven days. The southwest monsoon is swiftly progressing, and the IMD expects it to reach the remaining areas of the North Arabian Sea, parts of Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh in the next 48 hours. The weather conditions also support further advances in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi. The national capital is likely to experience rainfall from June 22, potentially the earliest monsoon arrival in over a decade. Areas that have experienced relief from the heatwave, such as Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha, are expected to see continuous rain, which may cause traffic issues and flooding.
