On International Yoga Day in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma participated in a state-level yoga event, acknowledging Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts in popularizing yoga globally. Sharma highlighted the theme ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health,’ emphasizing the link between humanity and the environment. He also spoke of yoga’s role in promoting health and harmony.
Sharma described yoga as a holistic practice from Indian civilization, uniting the body, mind, and soul. He noted its significance in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. He also mentioned yoga’s ancient roots, with Lord Shiva and figures like Maharishi Patanjali as key figures in its development. The Chief Minister credited PM Modi for the global recognition of Yoga Day, resulting from the UN’s declaration of June 21 as International Yoga Day, due to India’s proposal.
He further praised PM Modi’s efforts in spreading Indian cultural values. Sharma pointed out PM Modi’s initiatives, including the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the Kashi Vishwanath corridor, Mahakal Lok in Ujjain, the Char Dham project, and the transformation of pilgrimage sites such as Kedarnath and Badrinath. He added that the Rajasthan government is also working on the development of religious sites. According to Sharma, India has flourished spiritually, economically, and militarily under PM Modi’s leadership, as evidenced by Operation Sindoor and the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty to divert water to Rajasthan.
